Any extras

We’ve set up beds, towels, plates, mugs and glasses for the number of guests on your booking. If you need anything extra, including more bedding, just let us know.

Before you leave

Please leave the cottage much as you found it, pop used towels in the bath, check you’ve not left anything in drawers, sockets or the fridge, and return the keys to the key box.

Rubbish & Recycling

There are four recycling bins under the kitchen sink. Put rubbish and recycling in the outside bins through the white gate next to the key lockbox.

If something’s not right

If you spot anything missing or not working, please just tell us – we’d much rather fix it than have you put up with it.

How Things Work

The Hive thermostat is opposite the front door as you come in.

It’s set on a schedule: 06:30–08:30 and 16:30–22:00 at 21°C.

If you’d like it switched off as the weather warms up, or turned up on colder days, just let us know and we’ll adjust it remotely via the app.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, baking, or just heating up a takeaway.

Fridge: Please don’t change the temperature settings – they’re already optimised.

Pantry: You’ll find basics like tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt and pepper in the pantry.

Extractor: The extractor fan can be switched on via the switch on the wall.

Use the remote to turn the TV on, and feel free to angle it to wherever you’re sitting.

Log in to your own streaming services so you can pick up where you left off with your latest series, or have the kids set up with the right age-rated content – just remember to log out again when you’re done.

There’s a Bluetooth speaker on the shelf above the dining table. Feel free to connect your phone and take it with you on picnics, or into the bathroom if you’d like some relaxed music while you’re in the bath.

Bedding for the sofabed is in the ottoman. View the Instructional Video on how to set up the sofabed

In the bedroom is a king-size bed with luxury linens and a mattress topper as standard. We appreciate that everyone sleeps differently, so if you prefer a firmer mattress or have a sensitive back, we can remove the topper, and we’re happy to provide extra blankets and pillows if you’d like them.

There’s a table and chairs at the front of the property – perfect for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The area is beside the shared driveway with Barn Cottage, but your privacy will always be respected. We don’t currently have an enclosed space for dogs, but there are plenty of short walks just a stone’s throw away.

The fire alarms are hard-wired throughout the cottage, so you don’t need to worry about battery life. You’re very welcome to test them if it helps put your mind at ease. There’s also a small fire extinguisher in the kitchen cupboard beside the sink, should you ever need it.

In an emergency, please call 999 first, then let us know as soon as you safely can.

Getting Around

Kintbury is easy to explore on foot and by train, with plenty of lovely walks straight from the cottage, especially along the Kennet & Avon Canal – head east to Newbury (around 2 hours) or west to Hungerford (around 1 hour), then simply catch the train back. The station is a short walk away, with direct services to Newbury and Hungerford, London Paddington in about an hour, and further into the West Country, so you get the feel of a village stay with straightforward links for days out.
